There is no shortage of excitement brewing in the city today! The Steel City is known for our tight-knit community, sports fandom, and untouchable food (see you soon, Anthony Bourdain!). Today, all three of these converge in one massive celebration of the city, and the people of the city, in very different ways,

First up…Pride Pittsburgh.

Pride is a month long celebration of the LGBTQ community, and this weekend is Pittsburgh Pride Fest. On today’s agenda is the EQT Equality Parade. The celebration starts at Noon at PPG Paints Arena with guest speakers, followed by a parade running from the arena, down to Liberty Avenue. Pittsburgh has hosted an annual LGBT Pride Parade since 1973, even though most think this event is in it’s infancy. Quite the opposite. Pittsburgh’s Pride is known as one of the best in the country, with vendors, music, and fun for the entire family.

Now for the nightcap with The Cup.

Could this be the night? Could this be the night the Pittsburgh Penguins earn their 5th Stanley Cup in their first 50 years of existence? Is this the night the Pens win their 2nd back-to-back championships? Is this the night we finally silence that rookie Nashville crowd?

Is this the night? This writer thinks winning a championship on a day where we’re already celebrating each other and our differences is the best way to also celebrate our similarities. So if you asked me, “is this the night?”, I’d have to respond in the only way I know to truly hammer home my answer….
